CRTNY is the stage name of the independent producer, singer, and inspired composer Courtney A. — born in Montgomery, Alabama. CRTNY is the founder and owner of Lavandula Records (name inspired by lavenders and purple) based in Texas. Since the age of 15, CRTNY has been producing a menagerie of music and teaching herself to play instruments such as the piano and guitar. During the pandemic in 2020, CRTNY’s first releases included “swedish fish,” “jazzyboo in B minor,” and her To Be Unpretty Beat Tape which showcased her exceptions to odd time signatures and avant-garde productions packed with heavy instruments with the juxtaposition of Jazz, Soul, and Neo Soul sonics. In 2024, she established her own record label, Lavandula Records and released mending experiments and dit dit which includes popular songs like “happe mistakes,” “slow rising sunrise,” “self invalidation,” and “lollygaggin around”.
